Import Presets into OrcaSlicer
Learn how to import profiles, config bundles, and project files
About OrcaSlicer
OrcaSlicer is a popular open-source slicer based on Bambu Studio and PrusaSlicer. It uses JSON format for profiles and supports importing individual profiles or complete preset bundles.
OrcaSlicer File Types
.jsonSingle profile (printer, filament, or process)
.json (bundle)Complete preset package with all profiles
.3mfProject file with embedded settings and model
Import Profiles (.json)
OrcaSlicer uses a unified import method similar to Bambu Studio:
- 1.Download the profile files from SliceHub (usually
.jsonformat)If you downloaded a .zip file, extract it first
- 2.Open OrcaSlicer
- 3.Go to File → Import → Import Configs
- 4.Navigate to the folder where your profile files are stored
- 5.Select the profile files you wish to import and click "Open"
- 6.If prompted that profiles already exist, confirm overwrite if necessary
- 7.Your profiles will appear in the relevant section (printer, filament, or process) and can be selected for use
Import Project File (.3mf)
3MF project files contain both the 3D model and all slicer settings:
- 1.Download the
.3mffile from SliceHub - 2.In OrcaSlicer, go to File → Import → Import 3MF/STL/OBJ...
- 3.Select your
.3mffile - 4.The 3D model will load with all embedded settings applied
- 5.To save the settings as a profile: Right-click the active profile → "Save as..." to create your own named preset
Troubleshooting
Profile doesn't appear after importing?
Check the profile dropdown menu - scroll down to find your newly imported profile. It may be at the bottom of the list.
Error: "Invalid configuration file"?
This usually means the JSON file is corrupted or not compatible with your OrcaSlicer version. Try re-downloading the file, or check if your OrcaSlicer version matches the preset's version.
Settings look wrong or incomplete?
Some presets may require specific printer profiles or dependencies. Check the preset description on SliceHub for any special requirements or installation notes.
Tips for OrcaSlicer
- Backup your profiles: Before importing new presets, export your current configuration via File → Export → Export all configs
- Rename imported profiles: Right-click any profile → "Rename" to give it a more descriptive name
- Check compatibility: OrcaSlicer updates frequently. Ensure your version matches or is newer than the preset's version listed on SliceHub
- Test before important prints: Always test downloaded presets with a benchy or calibration cube before using them for critical prints
